I love black and white photographs. Of course, there's a lot
to be said for the richness and depth of color a good craftsman can achieve
with patience and modern equipment. But when I look at a color picture,
I find myself admiring the scene, while ignoring the artistry that went into
capturing it. Black and white photography is less forgiving; it demands
attention to details like texture, lighting and composition. When it's
done right, the results can be incredibly striking.
I hope you enjoy this web site. There are only three
sections. The first is a selection of photographs of "small town America."
These were taken in rural settings in Idaho, Oregon, Washington state
and northern California. The second section includes some scenic vistas;
you may be surprised at how beautiful a sunset can be without color.
Finally, there is a brief discussion of the equipment and supplies
used.
Please enjoy your visit. And if you have any questions or comments,
please email me. Thank
you.
