A Wish For A Brother

In the garden of life,

You and I have always gotten the thorns.

But now that we're growing older

It seems that we're finding the first

Of the flowers.

Soon you'll be wandering

Down your own path

In your own garden.

But next time you prick your

Finger on a thorn,

Take a minute to look

Back on all of our struggles together

And remember that you have a brother

That still loves you.

XV

When you smile at me,

I forget my pain and suffering.

The insanity in my life

Is taken away on the free wings

Of angels.

Your smile brings me

Unimaginable pleasure,

Every part of me aches to be

Touched by you.

You are my beacon of light

In a never-ending storm.

You are my hope,

My will,

My life.

I love you.

The Iniquity of Time

When I was young, I looked to the future.
I waited in breathless anticipation for the next moment,
The next day…

As I grew, I found less wonder in the moment
And I found myself waiting for the next week,
The next month…

I've waited for summer vacations…
Then I waited for graduation.
I waited…

When I moved out I waited to be married,
I've waited to relocate,
I've waited to have children,
Still waiting…

As I grow older, I realize that I spend more time waiting.
When I realized this, I also found the Iniquity of Time.

Life is not Time. Life is not made of years spent waiting.
Life is made of those single moments that burn in our memories.
It is those rare moments that stand outside of our Time on this Earth.
The moments that never end.

If we stop long enough to savor the moments again,
Learn to live in the ones that have passed,
And remember to love the people that have made those moments with us
(whether they are with us or have passed on),
then maybe we can regain a little of our youth.
Take back a little of the Life stolen by the Iniquity of Time.
