The Lavender Heart

A desolate wharf with a single dock.
A single ship, white walled and high masted waits with
A splintered gangplank over a still channel.
A lone woman strides across the deck.
As she reaches the bow, the ship drops the gangplank
and raises its sails.
The woman, rosy cheeked and smooth faced, smiles into the fading sunset.
The sails catch the wind, filling the vessel with life.
The Lady's golden hair flirts with the breeze and she
sighs with an easy heart.
The ship rolls slowly through the waves, and the woman
glances over her shoulder at the vanishing shore.
She remembers struggle and strife, pain and regret.
She remembers a family, left behind.
She remembers and tears start to well up in her eyes...
She remembers a ring...
A silver ring with a silver crown and a lavender heart.
She remembers promises...
A son,
and a daughter...
She turns back to the setting sun.
Away from her Familiar Horizons.
The tears still stream from her eyes,
but the pain is gone.
She knows that they'll all be just fine, and that
she will always be with them.

She turns towards the approaching shore,
with the sun rising behind, and she smiles and says:

Goodbye...
