Spirit Dreams

The minutes pass
And the sound of your name
As it falls from my lips
Lingers in the night

Deep sleep
And consciousness
Do battle for my sanity
Until
No longer searching for you
Or calling out your name
I awaken

My face
Wet with tears
Heart pounding
Reverberations of your name
And my longings
Slowly fade away

For a short time then
The burning embers of your existence
Are alive in my heart
Until
Unable to dream forever
You leave me once again
Haunted
And alone

Memories of you
Of love and long ago
Fade
With each passing day
And still...
I miss you, Mother
