We have recently fallen in love. Again. This time, the object of our infatuation is a Russian-born singer/songwriter with the face and voice of an angel. Her name is Marina Verenikina, which she has shortened (probably because Americans are so awkward with Russian names) to Marina V.
Marina's music has been described as "hauntingly beautiful" by the L.A. Times; Music Connection lauds her "inspirational lyrics and soaring voice"; and Artists Studio Magazine adds, "with her unique phrasing, breathless, smoky-sweet and compelling vocals, she's got a sound all her own." There is a wealth of information available about Marina on the web - including her own terrific MarinaV.com site. She also has an online forum, located here - a great place to find out more about her from the perspective of fans who adore her. We're not going to repeat all the reviews and biographical stuff you can find anywhere. Google her name, and you'll be richly rewarded. Or go to Amazon and check the reviews posted by folks who've bought her CDs. |

Our purpose here is simply to introduce you to Marina as we've grown to know and love her. Yes, she is a very talented lady; but there are other very talented ladies. Marina somehow manages to be a real person. She often posts warm, funny messages on her own message board. Order a CD from her site, and she will personally sign it and include a humorous little personal note (and maybe a beautiful Russian post card).

on Dec 17, 2005 at CalState Northridge. Interviewed by the wonderful Larry Wines. (The file is 45 mb - probably too big for dial-up. Sorry) Go to Marina's message board for some great pictures from this session! |

If you've listened to any (or all) of the songs listed above, you are no doubt impressed by Marina's lovely voice. The next link will introduce you to her charming personality. This is an interview and live performance recorded July 18, 2005, on The Morning Show with Sarah Routh, at the Karma Coffee House in Hollywood, CA. Somehow, her delightful accent makes English sound better.

Well, that's it for now. We could go on for a much longer time, but you get the idea. We'll update this page from time to time, as we get to know Marina better. We're predicting that she's destined for great things, and we can't wait for her to come to Florida so we can see her perform live. (Psssssst.... Marina - are you listening?)
